The weekend of March 8th, we stayed in Florence. On this Friday, it was International Women's Day and there was free entrance to certain museums. My roommates and I decided to go to the Uffizi Gallery since we had not been yet. We walked around the gallery for over an hour looking at the various pieces of art and sculptures. Our favorite piece was the birth of Venus by Botticelli. The image shows the goddess of love and beauty arriving on land, on the island of Cyprus. Additionally, the goddess is standing on a giant scallop shell, as pure and as perfect as a pearl. This piece of art was absolutely gorgeous in person. The gallery itself was incredibly interesting to see.
