The second place we visited on our spring break was Amsterdam! After a short flight from Paris we made it to Amsterdam on the night of March 24th. We checked into our hotel and went to bed early.
The morning of March 25th began with breakfast at a place next door. I had an iced coffee and eggs benedict which was so delicious. Following breakfast, we walked around and ended up making custom charm bracelets at a place called Beadies. After, we met up with my parents who are on a Viking River Cruise on the Rhine River with their friends! We all decided we wanted to do a canal tour so we did one for an hour. The tour guide gave historical information about buildings and other things we saw along the way. It was a perfect way to see Amsterdam in a different way other than just walking around! After the canal tour, we grabbed lunch and shopped around. Later that night we went to a bar to get drinks while we waited for our table at an Italian restaurant. We ordered bruschetta as an appetizer and I got a great shrimp pasta as my main dish.
Tuesday March 26th started with breakfast at a place called De Carrousel Pannenkoeken which serves danish pancakes. I had never tried this kind of pancake before but I was not disappointed. I got my pancakes with bananas, chocolate and whipped cream, it was so good! Afterwards, we went to Moco Museum which has exhibits of modern and contemporary art. I really enjoyed walking around this museum, even though it was small i definitely recommend it! Next, we went to the flower market which was amazing at this time of year. That night we grabbed dinner at a yummy burger place.
The following day we got tickets to go to Keukenhof which is one of the world's largest flower gardens. According to their website, Keukenhof covers an area of 32 hectares and approximately 7 million flower bulbs are planted in the gardens annually. At this time of year, the flowers are in season and everywhere you looked there was vibrant flowers. We walked around for two hours enjoying the sights and smells of all the different flowers. That night we had our flight to our final spring break destination, Copenhagen. Amsterdam was absolutely incredible and just as beautiful as I imagined!
